Lavia on Chelsea and United radar

Chelsea and Manchester United are hot on the trail of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia ahead of the summer, Football Insider claim.

The Belgian joined Southampton from Manchester City for £14m last summer and he has since been impressive in the centre of the park.

Lavia has caught the eye with his tackling, distribution and ability to win duels. The midfielder has been likened to Yaya Toure.

It is now reported by Football Insider that Lavia is attracting interest from Chelsea and United ahead of the next transfer window.

City currently have a buy-back clause worth £40 million for the teenager but that does not become active until the end of next season.

Hence, the Saints have the negotiation power this summer and they have the luxury to command a higher transfer fee for their young star.

Southampton have picked up two wins from their last three league games and they are currently one point adrift of safety with 13 matches left.
