Liverpool to sign South American star for £35m

Liverpool are set to land the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for £35 million.

The Argentine has already undergone his medical with the Reds, and he is expected to join them in the coming days.

It was initially reported that the club would trigger his £60m release clause, but they have now agreed to pay a low fee up front.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside outfit will pay an initial fee of £35m for Mac Allister with future add-ons.

The World Cup winner should be an excellent signing for Jurgen Klopp, considering his creativity from the centre of the park.

He is capable of playing in the defensive, central or the attacking midfield roles. His versatility is a huge boost for the Reds.

The club have lacked a creator from midfield, and Mac Allister should be a huge upgrade on Naby Keita and James Milner.

Keita, Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino are set to leave the club as free agents after this month.
