Kovacic nears Man City switch

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has agreed personal terms with Manchester City ahead of a summer transfer.

The Croatia international has been a vital figure for the Blues, but he is expected to leave them in the next transfer window.

His current deal with the club expires in June 2024, and the hierarchy are happy to recoup transfer funds by sanctioning his sale.

It is now reported that Kovacic has agreed terms over a long-term deal with City, and talks are now expected between the clubs.

Chelsea are eyeing around £40 million for his services, but the English champions could seek a bargain on the final package.

Pep Guardiola's side will be hoping to settle on around £30 million for the 29-year-old, who could replace Ilkay Gundogan next term.

Gundogan's contract runs down at the end of the month, and reports claim that he has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer deal.

Apart from Gundogan, the likes of Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte could leave City during the upcoming summer transfer window.
