Arsenal agree deal to sign Spanish star from London side
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Brentford for the purchase of Spanish goalkeeper David Raya this summer.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, and they were first interested in signing him three years ago.
The north London giants recently opened talks with the Bees for him, and they have now finalised a deal worth £30 million.
Raya has been granted permission to travel for his medical tests, and the Gunners could confirm his arrival in the next 48 hours.
The Spaniard is set to replace Matt Turner as the back-up goalkeeper. The USA international is on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest.
Raya was the best goalkeeper in the Premier League last term in many departments. He was brilliant with his long-ball distribution.
His arrival should add strong competition for places. Aaron Ramsdale is the current number one, but he can't afford to take his place for granted.
If the Englishman makes any high-profile errors next season, there is a good possibility that Raya could get the nod over him in goal.
