Nottingham Forest move for Arsenal defender off as other clubs interested
Arsenal's defender Nuno Tavares wants to leave the Emirates Stadium as quickly as possible, but a move to Nottingham Forest is off the cards as a deal failed to materialise. It is understood the Gunners were not willing to agree to a loan deal for the Portuguese defender, preferring a permanent transfer, and now the player will meet with representatives of Everton and French duo Rennes and Metz.
Nuno Tavares spent last season on loan at Marseille, and showed flashes of the ability that peruaded Arsenal to spend £7 million on him a few seasons ago.
Under Arteta, Tavares has no future in North London, and the player is now being forced out of the club.
Six goals in 31 games for Marseille caught the eye of several teams, but Marseille were not one of them, as they were unimpressed with the player's determination and work ethic.
Forest's deal for Tavares will fall through as they do not want to match the £15 million fee that Arsenal are seeking for the defender, and now other clubs are likely to enter the race.
