Chelsea lining up move for Premier League striker?
Chelsea could reportedly make an approach to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins when the transfer window reopens this winter.
The Blues signed Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to strengthen their strike force last summer, but the latter got injured instantly.
Nkunku is out of action until the beginning of next year and he may not be rushed back, considering his recent injury record too.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been a huge disappointment for the Blues. He started off lively, but has struggled to find the back of the net.
Hence, the club could re-enter the market for a new marksman in January and reports claim that Watkins is one of the options on the radar.
Brentford's Ivan Toney has also been linked with the Blues, and the club could make an approach for either player in the next window.
Toney has not played any competitive football for months after being banned for betting breaches. He could still be costlier to buy than Watkins.
