Arsenal won't sign new striker in January

Arsenal won't be signing a new striker during the January transfer window following the injury blow for midfielder Thomas Partey.

The north London giants have had numerous injuries in the early part of the season and Partey is one of those in the treatment room.

He has been nursing a thigh injury for some period of time and reports claim that he has now undergone a surgery to rectify his issue.

As a result, he will be out of first-team action for the rest of the calendar year and there is no guarantee that he will be available in January.

Even if he becomes fit to return, Ghana could call him up for the African Cup of Nations alongside Egyptian star Mohamed Elneny.

Hence, Arsenal are looking for a replacement at the turn of the year and this will pause their plans to sign a new centre-forward in January.

The club are still lacking the presence of a regular goalgetter but may have to wait until the summer to sign a marquee number nine.
