Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku provides injury update

Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku has provided an update on his recovery from a serious knee injury.

The Frenchman signed for the Blues from Leipzig over the summer. He had a bright pre-season before his injury.

It was initially predicted that he may not return until the New Year, but his recovery has been pretty quick.

The versatile forward has now provided an update on his Instagram account saying: 'Getting closer'. 

Nkunku was recently fancied to return to team training in the lead-up to the Manchester City clash this weekend.

However, manager Mauricio Pochettino does not want to take any risks with him at the current point of time.

He is well aware of the Frenchman's injury record and prefers to have him in the squad after the international break.

Nkunku could make his debut against Newcastle United later this month. He could feature off the substitutes' bench.

His availability would be a huge boost for the Blues, who have seen Nicolas Jackson struggle for consistency in his debut season.
