Gusto suffers knee injury

Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto suffered a minor knee ligament injury during the Premier League draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues played out a thrilling 4-4 draw against the reigning English champions at the weekend. Gusto started on the bench in the game but replaced Reece James after the hour mark.

The Frenchman squandered a brilliant opportunity to score in the closing stages and during the same process, he happened to injure his knee.

L'Equipe now reveal that he picked up a minor knee ligament injury as a result and he could be on the sidelines for some period of time.

This is definitely bad news for the Blues. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been looking to balance the workload of James in recent games.

The club captain has become injury-prone over the past 18 months. He only recently returned to action following a long-term hamstring issue.

Pochettino will be hoping that Gusto will be available in a short notice. James is currently not 100 per cent to play 90 minutes every game.

Axel Disasi is another option for the right-back spot, but the Frenchman is a centre-back by trade and has looked unconvincing in the role.
