Arsenal looking to bolster key position this winter

Arsenal are aiming to bolster their midfield department when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The north London giants have not been playing at their vintage best this season but they are still top of the table.

Mikel Arteta will be aware regarding the same and he will be hoping that his team can find the rhythm from last term.

Meanwhile, there could be a winter spending spree with the prospect of Thomas Partey leaving for AFCON this winter.

Partey is currently on the sidelines with a thigh issue and he is not expected to return to action until the beginning of next year.

On his recovery, he could immediately report for international duty with Ghana which would represent a blow for the club.

Mohamed Elneny is also expected to link up with Egypt for AFCON. As a result, the club are eyeing a marquee midfielder.

Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi and Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz are among players under the consideration of Arteta.
