Liverpool to make move for Donyell Malen in January window
Liverpool have made Donyell Malen their primary transfer window target this month, as the 24-year-old Dutch international seeks a return to the Premier League. The Borussia Dortmund star had a short lived two year spell between 2015 and 2017 at Arsenal, before making a move back to PSV Eindhoven in his homeland.
With 26 caps at full international level and five goals, Malen is seen as one of the brightest players of the current generation in Holland. With three years remaining on his deal at Dortmund, the player will not be allowed to move to Liverpool for anything less than 50 million euros, according to reports from Germany.
So far this season, Malen has scored five goals in 15 appearances in the Bundesliga. This impressive form has persuaded Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp that the bulk of his transfer budget should be spent on acquiring Malen.
It is understood that Bayern Munich are also interested in Malen, but Dortmund do not want to sell to their bitter rivals and would prefer to sell the forward to a club outside of Germany.
