Chelsea move closer to Jhon Duran loan deal
Chelsea and Aston Villa have agreed a package that will allow Colombian international forward Jhon Duran to move to Stamford Bridge on loan until the end of the season. The Blues, who have reached the Carabao Club final and will face Liverpool, are seeking reinforcements in the attacking department having lost several faces through injury this season.
It is understood that the Blues will move to sign Duran even though the forward sustained an injury this week that will likely keep him out of action until the end of February.
Duran arrived at Villa from Chicago Fire in 2023 and has scored 2 Premier League goals in 25 appearances, but the 20-year-old is very highly rated at the club and only the imperious form of striker Ollie Watkins has kept the Medellin-born player from receiving an opportunity in the club's first-team on a regular basis. Most of Duran's appearances have come from the bench.
Duran emerged through Envigado's youth team, spending six years at the Colombian side, before finally moving to the USA in 2022 to Chicago Fire. It is understood that Chelsea will pay around £1 million for the duration of the loan.
