Chelsea ready to pay £43m to sign Spanish winger

Chelsea are prepared to pay £43 million to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams during the summer transfer window.

The Blues are planning to land a wide attacker in the summer and they have earmarked Williams as the priority transfer target.

Williams has the ability to play on the left and right wing and he has been in top form this term with six goals and 14 assists.

Football Transfers now claim that the club are prepared to trigger the £43 million release clause present in his current deal.

The Blues are, however, likely to face competition from plenty of clubs. Barcelona and Real Madrid are long-term admirers.

Arsenal are also monitoring the talented attacker and they could lure him ahead of the Blues with Champions League football.

Hence, it won't be a straightforward task for the west London giants to prise him away from Athletic Bilbao during the summer.

The arrival of Williams at the club could pave the way for a potential winger exit. It could be Raheem Sterling amid his poor form.
