Newcastle submit offer for Anthony Elanga

Newcastle have submitted a late bid for Swedish international winger Anthony Elanga, making a proposal worth a total of £35 million for the Malmo-born 22-year-old. The ex-Man Utd player has reportedly told Forest representatives that he is interested in a transfer to Newcastle, and the Toon Army have submitted a deadline day late bid for the youngster.
Elanga had initially been with Man Utd since 2014 where he first joined the club as a 12-year-old boy, before flourishing into a first-team regular in 2021 and going on to play a further 39 games in the Premier League, scoring three goals. His move to Forest has largely been a success, with five goalscoring returns in 37 Premier League appearances last year. Newcastle have been sufficiently impressed, and would like to sign the Swede to link up with fellow countryman Alexander Isak. It is understood Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is confident that a deal can be agreed before the transfer window slams shut this evening.
Forest have been busy in the transfer window and believe that a deal for Elanga would make room for inbound Eddie Nketiah, who will join from Arsenal today.
