Liverpool eyeing bargain deal for Ligue 1 striker

Liverpoool are planning a January approach to sign Lille striker Jonathan David, according to Inter Live.

The Merseyside giants currently have Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez as their centre-forward choices under manager Arne Slot.

Cody Gakpo can also play up front when required but reports claim that the club are eyeing a surprise move for David next year.

David has entered the last year of his contract with Lille. He has no plans of penning an extension at the current point of time.

This could urge Lille to consider his exit in January rather than losing him on a free transfer at the end of the ongoing season.

Inter Milan are firm admirers of the Canada international, but Liverpool believe they can beat the Nerazzurri to his services.

The Merseyside giants are confident that a package of around £21 million could persuade Les Dogues to part ways with David.

The 24-year-old has previously acknowledged that he would be interested in making the switch to the Premier League.
