Newcastle up their offer for Sesko
Newcastle have made a renewed bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, reportedly now worth £73 million as a total package for the talented striker. The Toon Army have been forced to increase their bid after Leipzig turned down an offer last week for the striker.
The uncertainty over the long-term future of current first choice striker Alexander Isak, who could soon depart for Liverpool, means that Newcastle are actively seeking a replacement and Eddie Howe's side have decided that Slovenian forward Sesko is the preferred alternative. With 27 goals in 64 German top flight appearances, Sesko is seen as one of Europe's best strikers.
Newcastle made contact with Leipzig two weeks ago, and signalled their intent to sign Sesko this summer. Initial discussions commenced after Arsenal opted against a transfer deal to sign Sesko, preferring a transfer for Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon.
The initial bid of £67.5 million from Newcastle was immediately turned down, and now the renewed offer could tempt the German club to sell.
The transfer gossip relating to a transfer for Alexander Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool is likely to continue for the remainder of August as an agreement is nowhere near being reached.
