Arsenal planning to target marquee striker - Romano

Arsenal are planning to pursue a marquee centre-forward in either January or at the end of the campaign, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners strengthened their attack by signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge over the summer. The Greek has proved a quality purchase and has been ever-present on the left wing this campaign.

Still, Arsenal are eyeing another marquee attacking acquisition, and Romano claims that the club are more likely to land a centre-forward.

The reputed journalist added that the Gunners would love to find a new solution in January but may most likely have to wait until the summer.

Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez was a top target last month, but the Argentine was adamant that he would leave only for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have since distanced themselves from the World Cup winner, and the Gunners could return for his services next year.

Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez is another player on Arsenal's radar.

Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres are the club's specialist strikers at the moment, but the latter could move on if a new marksman arrives.
