Georginio Wijnaldum, aged only 17, is fast becoming one of the most well known young players in Holland. Wijnaldum currently plays for Feyenoord and at the tender age of 17, has already proved he can compete in the Eredivisie top flight.

So impressive was the recent performances of Georginio Wijnaldum, that his Feyenoord team mate Roy Makaay lavished praise on the youngster:

"He performs at a constant high level at the moment and that's really impressive for such a young player," said Makaay to Algemeen Dagblad. "He will get a phase that he performs at a lower level, too."

"Nevertheless, that happens to all players, especially to youngsters. Gini [Wijnaldum] is the one who decides into how good a player he will develop in the future. It's up to the experienced players to help him in his development."

"Wijnaldum is really eager to learn from the older players. Nevertheless, he didn't listen to me when we scored our second goal. I told him to let the ball pass, but he set up Leroy Fer instead. Good decision though, since Leroy [Fer]scored our second goal."

Wijnaldum impressed in that game and scored one and set up two more, and being announced as the man of the match.

Wijnaldum is the youngest player to have ever played for Feyenoord and is fresh out of the youth academy. He made his first appearance for the first team aged only 16.

Wijnaldum will be staying at Feyenoord for the forseeable future, as he has a contract at the club until 2010.

Many in Holland feel that he could be one of the best players to ever have come out of the academy at the club.

Georginio Wijnaldum plays with a low centre of gravity and is an established passer of the ball. With a lot of pace and great balance, this talented midfielder can really progress.
