Given rules out Tottenham move

Shay Given has ruled out a move from Newcastle to Tottenham. There were reports that the Irish shotstopper was being lined up by Harry Redknapp for a January move to the club.

The Newcastle goalkeeper had been linked with a move to Spurs after the very disappointing start to life Heurelho Gomes had made at White Hart Lane.

Given said: “They have spent money on a goalkeeper already so I don’t think they’re going to spend any more.

“I’m sure that when Heurelho Gomes gets his confidence back he’ll be a very, very good goalkeeper again.

“I wouldn’t want to leave Newcastle anyway, I’m very happy where I’m at.”
