Benzema race heating up

The race for Lyon striker Karim Benzema is heating up as reports this morning emerged that an unknown Premiership club made an offer for the France international striker.

It is understood that Chelsea and Man Utd are both ready to make a move for the player, and that Benzema is the favorite replacement for the departing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas quipped: "He has been approached. For the moment, I managed to convince them not to go further."

Benzema is valued by Lyon in the region of £35 million.
