Arsenal stay on top

West Ham 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal continued their fantastic Premiership form as they stayed on top of the league thanks to grinding out a 1-0 victory over West Ham at Upton Park with Robin Van Persie grabbing an early goal.

van Persie was impressive throughout, and his goal came after Alexander Hleb crossed in for the Dutchman to head home for the only goal of the game.

Hleb was later taken off due to a horrific challenge on the Belarussian by Mark Noble. The game was a heated encounter and earlier on Lee Bowyer picked up a yellow card for a terrible challenge on Mathieu Flamini.

There was another injury later, with Scott Parker failing to make it out for the second half after suffering knee damage in a 50-50 challenge with Flamini.

On 54 van Persie should have doubled the lead if not for excellent goalkeeping by Robert Green, who tipped the goalbound shot onto the post.

Freddie Ljungberg had a goal chalked off for offside that would've been the equaliser. In fairness, Arsenal did control most of the play and shut up shop for the rest of the second half.

Ashton was unlucky not to score, while Adebayor was also unlucky as he shot rather tamely at goal. On 80 minutes Adebayor also picked up an injury which looks like it could be a hamstring.

In the last minute, West Ham had Ashton's header cleared off the line by van Persie to keep the three points intact for the Gunners.

Worryingly, injuries to Hleb and Adebayor could dent Arsenal's delight of earning three points again to stay on top.
