Arsenal eye Stephen Ireland?

Arsenal are rumoured to be looking at Man City midfielder Stephen Ireland. There have been reports that the Irish international midfielder has told the club that he would consider a move elsewhere, but the club are desperate to hang on the a player that was one of their stars of 2008/2009.

Ireland is valued in the region of £15 million by his club, and it is likely that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is unlikely to scoff at the fee on the table as Ireland would add much needed mettle to a weak looking midfield.

However, Liverpool are also known to be big fans of the Irishman, and could be tempted to make a move for the player shortly too.
