Fabricio Coloccini linked with Newcastle managerial role
Argentinian defender Fabricio Coloccini has been mooted as a surprise contender for the Newcastle managerial role. Current manager Alan Pardew is under pressure after slumping to a defeat to Southampton at the weekend.
Coloccini has been fiercely loyal to the Toon Army despite regularly being linked with a move away from St James' Park.
Now the 32-year-old defender could be set to take over at the club should club owner Mike Ashley decide to remove Alan Pardew from the role.
Coloccini has two years remaining on his playing contract but it is understood that the centre back is looking at his long term future in a coaching role and could take up a position as player manager.
