Brighton seal deal for Pervis Estupinan
Pervis Estupinan has arrived on the South Coast having completed a transfer worth a reported £16 million from Villarreal. Having made 53 appearances for the Spanish side under Unai Emery, Estupinan has now opted to return to England, where he previously had a short stint with Premier League side Watford.
Estupinan has been brought to the club as a replacement for Marc Cucurella, who recently joined Chelsea for £62 million. The move is likely to fill a much needed gap at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manager Potter quipped: "He fills a position to which we've been looking to add depth. In addition to his international experience, he has played for Villarreal in the Champions League and Europa League, as well as gaining plenty of experience in La Liga.
"We will help him to settle here in England, but we're looking forward to working with him and seeing him in action in the Premier League."
Estupinan is a full Ecuador international having made his debut in 2019. Having emerged through LDU Quito's ranks, Watford would later sign the left-back and the player had multiple loan spells playing for Granada, Almeria, Mallorca and Osasuna.
