Arsenal make opening bid to sign former Real Madrid ace

Arsenal have made an opening offer to sign Getafe striker Borja Mayoral during the current transfer window, as per The Sun.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the La Liga outfit this term and he has netted 12 goals in the Spanish top-flight.

The Sun report that the Gunners have made a £22 million to sign him, but it has been swiftly rejected by his employers.

Getafe want at least £39 million for the former Real Madrid striker and it is left to be seen whether the Gunners pay the fee.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear to the hierarchy that he wants another marksman and the board are currently trying their best.

They want to provide the Spaniard with an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah during the second half of the season.

Mayoral may not be the high-profile striker that the fans would prefer, but his form could help the Gunners in their title pursuit.
