Arsenal Set To Spend Heavy On Fellaini

21 June 2013 - 19:33

Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger, is all set to flaunt the 70million pounds transfer kitty at his disposal once again after already having made enough news for going past club’s previous best in order to land Higuain on his side. It’s been reported that Wenger is preparing to follow his £22m deal for Gonzalo Higuain with a £23m bid for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini.

  • The Gunners have been eying upon the Belgian international since a long time but amidst other major transfers to be secured things had cooled down in past few weeks. But now Wenger has decided to act quickly with all the resources he has so that Fellaini’s sign could be captured even before the official opening of the transfer window.

In the past, new contracts at the Emirates stadium could only be finalized after big money exits happened first which often meant the Frenchman had to lose out on his top targets. This summer the Gunners have all the cash they would need to secure big signings so Arsenal fans should be highly optimistic to see their club break the transfer record twice in quick succession.

Wenger had earlier hoped that he could sign Fellaini for less than the 23million pound release clause but that not being an option, the manager will have to act fast. Manchester United’s David Moyes has also been targeting Fellaini, although Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara is his first choice.
