Arsenal have joined the race to sign Manchester City’s defender Micah Richards according to media reports in England.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 25 year old England international has been offered a contract extension but Richards is ready to reject the offer and turn back on the club having become a bit part player for the side.

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has suffered from various injuries and managed just seven Premier League starts last season.

Eventhough Richards gains full fitness, he would now know that he will be unable to unseat first choice right-back Pablo Zabaleta whilst also struggling to force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s central defensive picture given the emergence of youngster Matija Nastasic, who adapted a great partnership with the captain Vincent Kompany last season.

Arsenal believe Richards could be the perfect replacement for Bacary Sagna, if he is to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer which looks highly likely after having failed to agree to a new contract with the Gunners.
