Chelsea make Kurt Zouma enquiry

Chelsea make Kurt Zouma enquiry

01 July 2013 - 13:15

The West London side have been known for their financial power status since purchase of the club by Roman Abramovich and the Blues have asked Ligue 1 minnows Saint Etienne to present the offer they need to let go of their young defender Kurt Zouma.

  • The appointment of Jose Mourinho was a huge statement made by Chelsea, and the Portuguese will now look to setup the Chelsea squad according to his desire. The ‘Special One’ has already acquired the signature of Chelsea's long term target Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen and would now like to sign a defender before the season starts off.

Mourinho has relied on a strong defensive unit at the back in all his previous clubs and despite the presence of experienced defenders like Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill and Luiz in the squad, the new Chelsea manager wants to add one more central-back to his squad.

Zouma is a strong, tall and well built centre- back with a physically dominating presence in the air. The Frenchman nearly came to England in January itself when QPR bid £8 million pounds.

Reports suggest Mourinho has enquired with the Ligue 1 club himself and has requested to know exactly how much they expect for their prized young starlet.
