Germany manager Joachim Löw stunned by the sale of Mesut Özil to Arsenal

04 September 2013 - 15:11

Germany manager Joachim Löw has admitted of his disbelief when Real Madrid sold their star midfielder Mesut Özil to Arsenal on the transfer deadline day.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Löw said that it was a poor move by the La Liga giants to sell one of their best players, but also insisted that Özil would live up to his expectations at the Gunners as he will feel wanted in North London.

Low told reporters : "Many Real players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are sad about the transfer.

"For me, it's incomprehensible that Real would sell one of their top scorers.

"Mesut is a sensitive player and he needs the faith from the club and the coach. It seems that was not longer 100 percent there at Real whereas Arsenal and their coach Arsene Wenger pulled out all the stops to get him."

Mesut Özil completed his move to Arsenal for a club-record fee of £42.5m.
