Black Cats consider Long move

Sunderland to pursue Shane Long?

20 October 2016 - 19:07

Sunderland could lodge an attempt to sign Shane Long when the transfer window reopens in January. The Republic of Ireland international has failed to make a mark under Claude Puel this season.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 29-year-old has been restricted of playing time this term with Puel favouring the services of Charlie Austin for the centre-forward role.

According to The Telegraph, the Black Cats are lining up a potential bid for the striker with David Moyes set to be offered a reasonable kitty to turn the club's fortunes in the New Year.

Long has yet to open his goalscoring account for the campaign, and this has hampered his position in the starting line-up.

Sunderland are currently rockbottom of the league standings with two draws and six defeats in their opening eight games. They make the visit to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
