Mourinho wants Zouma at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho wants Chelsea defender

Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho is reportedly lining up an offer for defender Kurt Zouma, who is assessing his future at Stamford Bridge.

  • Chelsea defender suffers season-ending hamstring injury
  • The France international has largely been an outsider for the first XI this season with manager Antonio Conte opting to stick with Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as his preferred three at the back.

According to The Sun, Mourinho will offer Zouma an escape route from west London with the promise of regular playing time at Old Trafford next season.

The Special One has publicly criticised Phil Jones and Chris Smalling for the lack of intent to play through injury and this could see him move for a new centre-back to partner alongside Eric Bailly next season.

Zouma has previously hinted that he would leave the Premier League leaders in the summer as the lack of gametime could dent his chances of attaining a place in Didier Deschamps' squad for next year's World Cup in Russia.

The former Saint-Etienne has not earned a regular run in the Chelsea setup since his season-ending injury against Manchester United back in February last year.
