PSG want Aguero as marquee signing

Aguero was replaced by Gabriel Jesus during the second half of last season

PSG want Aguero as marquee signing

24 June 2017 - 17:51

As they prepare to attempt to regain the Ligue 1 title, Paris Saint-Germain are targeting Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, as they look to exploit "difficulties" in the relationship between him and his manager.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus at the club, Aguero has seen his position as first choice striker at Manchester City fall into jeopardy. Despite Pep Guardiola insisting that Aguero will remain at the club and the player saying that he will stay until the end of his contract, 2020, there have been reports of a strained relationship on numerous occasions.

The Times reports today that PSG are preparing a bid in excess of £60 million in order to sign the prolific Argentina striker and they are prepared to pay him £220,000 per week.

PSG struggled last season after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and they want to sign a big name striker this summer to build a team around and hopefully replicate the effect that the Swedish striker had at the club.

Aguero's strike rate for Manchester City has been fantastic, making him a huge fan favourite with the City supporters. There have been rumours, however, that manager Pep Guardiola is not fully satisfied with his work off the ball. As seen in the past, if a player does not quite fit into the Spaniard's style of play, he will not hesitate to move them on.

If Aguero is sold by the club this summer, their interest in Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez could intensify further. Guardiola is a big fan of the Chilean, but Arsene Wenger is very hesitant to sell to a Premier League rival.
