Manchester United and Liverpool join the race for Julian Draxler

Despite Draxler's agent already insisting that his client will not leave PSG this season, Manchester United and Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign the German international.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Arsenal were reported to be interested in Julian Draxler after losing out on Riyad Mahrez and Thomas Lemar. PSG, having recently signed Neymar for a world record £198 million transfer fee and close to signing Kylian Mbappe from Monaco for £160 million, want to sell some of their players to balance the club's finances.

Blaise Matuidi has already been sold to Juventus and other players are expected to follow in the form of Hatem Ben Arfa, Lucas Moura, Grzegorz Krychowiak and the aforementioned Julian Draxler.

PSG's transfer activity has progressed since Draxler's agent insisted his player will remain at the club. The arrival of Mbappe will further limit Draxler's playing time as he is already low on the pecking order behind Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Javier Pastore.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United and Liverpool have now joined the race to sign Draxler as both teams predict the attacker's mind might change following Mbappe's arrival. The report also stated that the German, who arrived at PSG only in January for £40 million, will be allowed to leave for £32 million.
