Everton to move for Atletico Madrid striker?

Premier League side Everton could reportedly make an attempt to sign Atletico Madrid's Kevin Gameiro during the winter transfer window.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The 30-year-old has been a credible performer for the Spanish giants over the past 15 months, but he is expected to fall down the pecking order upon Diego Costa's return in January.

According to The Mirror, the Capital outfit are eager to balance their books in the New Year after having spent a club-record £67m on Costa.

It is added that the Toffees have been alerted over Gameiro's availability, although they have several other targets including Arsenal pair Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud.

Gameiro joined Atleti from Spanish rivals Sevilla back in July 2016, and contributed 12 goals and five assists during his maiden campaign.

He has, however, managed just two appearances this term with Luciano Vietto, Angel Correa and Fernando Torres competing for the centre-forward position - alongside Antoine Griezmann.

The Toffees failed to bring in a quality replacement for Romelu Lukaku in the summer, and this has restricted to goal tally to just four in the Premier League this term.

Everton have also had a tough fixture list having faced the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Manchester United in the first six games of the season. They are currently placed 14th on the table with seven points.
