Predicted Manchester United lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Swansea City, Lindelof and Romero start

Manchester United travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City in the fourth round of the League Cup. The Red Devils suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town last weekend, and this has extended their gap to five points to league leaders Manchester City.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Jose Mourinho's men have key Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea prior to the next international break, and the manager could probably rest a few first-team players - although the current injury crisis does not permit wholesale changes.

    Lineup (4-2-3-1):

Sergio Romero is certain to replace David de Gea in goal having previously featured in the 4-1 thumping of Burton Albion in the last round.

Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind could get the nod for the right-back and left-back positions respectively having not seen much league action in recent months.

The central defensive positions are presumably fixed with not much backup behind Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling. The pair are certain to start in their respective positions.

Similarly, Mourinho may have to persist with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic in the central midfield roles with Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, and Michael Carrick still on the sidelines.

Further forward, Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make an appearance from the off after starting from the bench in the Terriers defeat. The Armenian will take up his support striker position.

Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard were pretty much average in the weekend defeat, but they could get their chance of redemption - playing on either side of Mkhitaryan.

Marcus Rashford scored an eye-catching brace in the Burton triumph last month, and he is likely to get the nod over Romelu Lukaku, who could be rested for the crunch games ahead.

Manchester United lineup (4-2-3-1): Romero, Darmian, Lindelof, Smalling, Blind, Matic, Herrera, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Rashford
