Hughes slams Premier League

Hughes slams Premier League

05 March 2008 - 15:36

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has slammed the Premier League for what he believes is a ´snobbery in favour of foreign managers´such as Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • "There is a snobbery in favour of foreign managers here," Hughes told the Daily Mirror.

"Look, every British manager has respect for managers like Benitez and Ramos but the quality has to be right with other guys coming in, too.

"Maybe in other countries, they look after their own. And then they export coaches all over the world. We don't do that because the top jobs here don't go to British managers.

"Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt for what we are trying to do. I think a lot of British managers would like that to change but I doubt it will in the short term."

Hughes went on to outline his future management aspirations, saying: "At some point, I'd like to be manager of all the clubs I played for."
