Petr Cech criticizes Arsenal after Manchester City defeat

12 August 2018 - 17:42

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has criticized his side's attacking display in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva gave Pep Guardiola's men victory, inflicting defeat on Unai Emery in his first Premier League game.

"We feel that we could have got something from the game. In the second half, we forced them to make mistakes and we had some opportunities. Unfortunately, we lacked invention to find the killer pass," Cech said to BBC Sport.

Despite playing away from home, the Citizens looked comfortable for most part of the game, and could have scored more if not for Cech's heroics.

The goalkeeper was the subject of transfer speculation in England some weeks ago, with reports linking him with a move to former club Chelsea.

Despite the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, the former Czech Republic international vowed to fight for his place - and it looks like he has won the fight so far.

It doesn't get any easier for Arsenal in their next league game as they will face Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea, who recently secured a 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
