Tottenham dented Chelsea's Premiership title hopes this evening thanks to a 4-4 draw and a late Robbie Keane equaliser as Spurs battled back from 3-1 and 4-3 down to rescue a point in an epic battle at White Hart Lane. The match was a game that had everything - and leaves Avram Grant's future at Chelsea even more precarious.
It truly was a brilliant game at the Lane, and Tottenham dented Avram Grant's lofty ambitions for a late Premiership challenge.
Tottenham had to battle back twice to get something from this game, however.
Chelsea swept into a third-minute lead, Drogba heading in John Terry's cross at the far post to silence White Hart Lane.
Spurs delivered a timely response to level after 12 minutes when Wembley goal hero Woodgate rose to send a powerful header high beyond Carlo Cudicini.
Essien put Chelsea back in front with beating Robinson with a neat finish after 20 minutes with the outside of his right foot after a clever ball from Joe Cole unlocked the Spurs defence.
Ashley Cole floored Spurs defender Alan Hutton near the touchline with a tackle that was both high and late - a rough and dirty challenge from the former Arsenal defender.
After half time, Joe Cole added a third on 52 minutes beating Tottenham's shocking defence.
On 61 minutes, Tottenham came back as Dimitar Berbatov rose highest from a set piece.
Spurs' all-out attacking approach paid off with 15 minutes left when Keane's corner fell to the giant Huddlestone, who fired a superb left foot drive beyond Cudicini.
Joe Cole put Chelsea back in front in the 80th minute, shrugging off another weak tackle from Chimbonda.
Robbie Keane levelled the game with a superb goal on 88 minutes curling the ball past Cudicini.
Grant remains looking forward to the Arsenal game: "It's a good game. We have to win all the time, we are chasing the top two - we have to win - we have to win. We want to win.
Grant said: "We are not so happy with this. But we are with the goals we scored and the spirit. They came back from 3-1 to 3-3 so it is disappointing.
"It was good for the supporters, but we wanted the win. Set pieces cost us because we were winning 3-1 and conceded two corners.
"I didn't see Ashley Cole's tackle on Hutton, so I can't comment. We were not behaving bad, but it is the decision of the referee."
