Arsenal have been linked with a free transfer move for Spanish goalkeeper Adrian. The former West Ham shotstopper, who has been released from his club in search of regular first-team football, is wanted as a backup goalkeeper for Bernd Leno at the Emirates.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Gunners are set to move quickly to replace Petr Cech, who has retired and moved to Chelsea as part of the technical director team.

Adrian arrived at West Ham in 2013 from Real Betis and went on to play over 125 games for the club over a 6 year career with the Hammers. The 32-year-old had indicated that he would like to stay in London and the recent interest of Arsenal comes as a surprise, with Crystal Palace also linked with a move for the 6 foot 3 player.

Adrian found first-team opportunities limited last year as Lukasz Fabianski took the number 1 spot in the Premier League in every game, leaving Adrian resigned to just five appearances in domestic cup competitions. The Hammers were said to be open to offering Adrian a new deal, but the keeper rejected the idea of extending his stay.
