Crystal Palace have reportedly laughed off Arsenal's opening £40m bid for Wilfried Zaha and deemed the offer to be embarrassing.
The Gunners are on the search for an experienced wide player this summer and Zaha has been earmarked as the prime choice to bolster the position.
According to The Sun, the north London side recently lodged a £40m bid for the attacker, but the offer has been swiftly rejected by Roy Hodgson's side, who have branded the proposal as embarrassing.
The Gunners are working on a limited £45m budget for the summer and that makes a move for Zaha improbable, given the Eagles are said to want at least £80m for the Ivorian.
Still, there are suggestions that the Gunners could recoup part of the transfer fee from the sale of unwanted players while the prospect of a player-plus-cash deal for the 26-year-old has not been ruled out.
Calum Chambers, Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi, Carl Jenkinson and Mohamed Elneny are among the names, who could be shown the exit door during the ongoing transfer window.
