Henrikh Mkhitaryan set for Arsenal return?

11 February 2020 - 18:55

Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan will reportedly return to Arsenal in the summer after AS Roma decided against meeting the asking price set by the Gunners.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The 31-year-old was loaned out to the Serie A outfit prior to the summer transfer deadline and he has since made just 12 appearances due to fitness concerns.

Mkhitaryan has provided a decent return of four goals and one assist but The Sun claims that the Giallorossi have no plans to meet the £20m price tag to sign him on a permanent basis.

The Rome-based outfit had approached the Gunners to recruit Mkhitaryan permanently last month but their offer of £8.5m fell well short of the Gunners' transfer demands.

As such, the former Manchester United man is set to return to the north Londn side at the end of the season but it is likely that the club will wait for suitable offers from elsewhere.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is apparently open to a major squad overhaul during the summer and the likes of Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been fancied to head through the exit door.
