Everton are reportedly looking into a move for Alessio Romagnoli from AC Milan as they aim to strengthen the central defensive department.

  • The Toffees currently have three centre-backs in Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina but manager Carlo Ancelotti is keen on adding more competition for places.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Toffees boss has earmarked Romagnoli as a potential candidate to reinforce the club's options at the heart of the defence.

The same publication cites that Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on the proceedings but both clubs may be unsuccessful in their attempts to lure the Italy international.

Romagnoli has only two years remaining on his existing deal with the Rossoneri but he is reportedly open to signing a long-term contract to show his commitment as the club-captain.

The 25-year-old has been the Rossoneri's skipper since the departure of Leonardo Bonucci last season and he is determined to stay put and guide the club back to the Champions League.
