Arsenal interest in Gourcuff

13 April 2008 - 15:10

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is apparently ready to make an offer to AC Milan for their out of favour French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff. The French player joined Arsenal with a lofty reputation, but Carlo Ancelotti has yet to give the player a lengthy run in the first team.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Ajax had earlier been linked with a move for the Frenchman and were put on high alert after the French player played half the amount of games this season as he did last for the Rossoneri.

Gourcuff recently said: "The first six months of the season were very difficult. When I extended my contract with Milan last summer, club bosses had told me that they would count more on me after my first year there.

"This season certain footballers have been playing together for a very long time and it’s hard to take their place. Especially annoying is the fact I haven’t been able to put in a string of outings, even after a good game."

When asked about the apparent interest from abroad, Gourcuff quipped: “Why not? Italy, Spain, England… I don’t exclude anything. But I will decide in May.”
