Adebayor backs Wenger

Adebayor backs Wenger

14 April 2008 - 13:52

Togan striker Emmanuel Adebayor has backed under-fire Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger despite 2 terrible months of form for the Gunners that saw them slip out of the Champions League and Premiership race in quick succession.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Gunners headed out of the Champions League in midweek 4-2 to Liverpool at Anfield; losing 5-3 on aggregate.

On Sunday, Arsenal's remote chance of Premiership glory was also put to an end after Manchester United fought back to defeat the Gunners 2-1 at Old Trafford.

"Arsene is a great man and a great manager," quipped Adebayor

"He has achieved a lot of things with this club. For sure he is going to be here.

"He has a vision to bring a lot of good players to this club like Alex Hleb, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, Cesc Fabregas and William Gallas. They are his players. So, for sure, we will win something, no doubt about that.

"We will never give up. Last season we finished fourth so we have made a lot of progress and we deserved something.

"I still believe we are still one of the best teams in the world. We know how to achieve things and we know how to play football. Next season we have to come out like a killer to do something. We have the quality.'
