Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia is expected to miss at least six weeks after picking up an ankle injury in training.
The Belgian joined the Blues from Southampton during the summer transfer window, but he has yet to make his debut.
Mauricio Pochettino said that he would feature after a couple of weeks of training, but he has now suffered a big blow.
Lavia sustained an ankle injury last week, and it is revealed that he could be on the sidelines until late October at least.
Chelsea are still assessing his current condition, but there are suggestions that he has suffered some ligament damage.
The Blues have been hampered by injury blows from the start of the campaign and they are missing several names.
Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana are out with long-term injuries. Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah are short-term absentees.
Benoit Badiashile has also been out for months after a hamstring problem, but could make his comeback pretty soon.
