Benayoun or Babel?

03 October 2007 - 12:46

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez must make a decision on who will play in the absence of suspended midfielder Jermaine Pennant. The two candidates are Yossi Benayoun, who impressed in the Premiership at the weekend, and Ryan Babel.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • As such, Benitez is likely to hand the Israel skipper the starting role and a chance to prove his worth in the starting line-up with Tottenham Hotspur to tackle in Sunday’s Premiership encounter at home.

Benitez said: "Benayoun has quality and he can change games for us, he has proved that already. I will decide between him and Babel for this match. But Yossi has shown how important it is to be able to bring on players with quality, and fresh legs, to win matches."

He added: "I have the option of Benayoun or Babel on the wing. One will play now Pennant is suspended."
