Manchester City set to trim squad

Man City manager Roberto Mancini will be forced to trim his squad over the next year, as he attempts to ensure that the Citizens can match new financial fair play [FFP] regulations that go into force over the next 12 months.

Man City lost 194.4m GBP last year and these kinds of figures will no longer be acceptable under a new ruling.


Manchester City will therefore be forced to sell as many as 12 players from their squad over the coming 12 months to ensure the Blues do not face restrictions. New rules start for the 2013/2014 season, and any team that fail to comply face the axe from European competition.


Currently, the club wage bill is higher than the entire club turnover for the year.


Players that are expected to leave include:
Carlos Tevez = to Inter Milan or AC Milan in January
Emmanuel Adebayor = to Tottenham
Nedum Onuoha = linked with a move to Sunderland or QPR
Wayne Bridge = contract expires
Roque Santa Cruz = on loan at Real Betis, expected to remain in Spain
Vladimir Weiss = on loan at Espanyol, many European clubs tracking the striker
Abdul Razak = on loan at Portsmouth, permanent move could be agreed in January
Michael Johnson = on loan at Leicester, many Championship clubs weighing up a move at the end of the season
Stuart Taylor = reserve goalkeeper, could be allowed to leave at the end of the year
Owen Hargreaves = contract expires
