Aston Villa make bid for Steven Pienaar

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has contacted Tottenham regarding the availability of out of favour midfielder Steven Pienaar. The former Everton creative midfielder has played just 8 games since arriving at Spurs last year.

Pienaar has also struggled with some injury problems, but it appears that the attacking trio of Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Rafael van der Vaart have kept the South African's first team opportunities limited.


The midfielder has asked Harry Redknapp if there will be an opportunity to show his worth in the first team soon, and with recent injuries to van der Vaart, the South African could be called upon.


Pienaar may instead look into moving to another club, with the 29 year old valued at around 4.5m GBP.
