Pique Wants Thiago To Stay At Camp Nou

Gerard Pique has urged Barcelona to do everything in their hands to coax the in-demand Spanish wonder kid Thiago Alcantara.

Pique wants his side to make sure that they capitalize on the talents of the 22 year old by making sure he doesn’t leave for the Premier League. Pique realizes the potential of the gifted striker who yesterday skippered his team to victory in the European U21 by striking an inspirational first half hat-trick.

Barcelona star Thiago was born in Italy, where his Brazilian father played for Lecce. The striker has already been eyed upon by several clubs, Manchester United one of them. It is said that David Moyes has been one of the greatest admirers of Thiago, but not before he finally joined Man Utd, could he have thought of bringing him into his squad.

Reports suggested that the young striker is frustrated due to limited first team chances, considering the fierce competition in Barcelona midfield, Xavi and Iniesta being the strongest impediments. The Premier League champions could be targeting the Spaniard on these grounds and a good offer could easily lure him into making an early Barcelona exit.

Thiago, who has outshone many other strikers of his age and caliber will have to meet his 18 million pounds release clause to join the Moyes army at Old Trafford this summer.

Pique reminded the Italian born that even his predecessors, in his age, had to show a lot of patience to finally prove themselves.

"There is a possibility that he can go, but we have to convince him that the best place for him is the club [Barcelona]”

"The players currently in starting positions were patient [for their turn] and have since marked an era."
