Alisher Usmanov relishes Wayne Rooney at Arsenal

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov regards Manchester Striker Wayne Rooney would be a huge success if he joined Arsenal this summer.

Usmanov holds 29.9 percent of the stake in Arsenal and reckons the 27 year old would be a huge hit at the Emirates Stadium.


He told CNBC:” (He is a) great player. If he comes it would be a big success for Arsenal and Rooney also.”


Usmanov has expressed his support on Wenger who had a great finish to the 2012-13 campaign as the team finished fourth in the Barclays Premier League to secure a Champions League play-off spot.


“My point of view is that Arsene knows best,” the 59 year old Russian added.” Of course, we as shareholders do point out some drawbacks in managing the club, in steering its way through.


“But I believe he is a great coach and he has already proven that last season.”
